The award-winning Philippine furniture designer Kenneth Cobonpue’s inspirations range far and wide—from a crushed Coca-Cola can to a croissant and a tropical rainforest canopy. His latest design, the Bloom Lounge Chair ($2,465), is clearly inspired by the garden. Hundreds of running stitches of microfiber radiate outward from the center of the blossom-shaped chair. The fabric is stretched over a resin frame then the whole composition is set upon a steel frame, creating an unmistakably botanical form that is also thoroughly modern.
